Liz Seal Holistic Massage
There is nothing, in my opinion, that can refresh the soul better than a walk in the woods. Connecting with nature and taking time to breathe fresh air is good for many aspects of our life. Exercise, sunlight, spending time to think and reflect, chatting with friends…what’s not to love?
Trees are the planet’s air fresheners – they remove harmful toxins and create oxygen. They can also purify our environment in the form of essential oils and are some of my favourites!
The top 5…
Pine (Pinus sylvestris) is anti-inflammatory, cleansing, warming and drying. It is has decongestant properties, making it useful for respiratory conditions and helps with allergies.
Juniper (Juniperus communis) is anti-catarrhal, expectorant and antiseptic. This oil is helpful for bronchitis and other respiratory conditions and for greasy skin and eczema.
Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) is anti-spasmodic, astringent (balancing for the skin) and toning for the blood vessels. It can be used for treating thread veins, is healing on fine cuts and grazes and has a harmonizing and drying effect on the lungs.
Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica) is antibacterial and stimulating for the skin. This oil is also mucolytic, helping to clear unhealthy mucous and promote the production of healthy mucous especially in the lungs. It can be useful for eczema and other skin conditions, aids lymphatic circulation, reduces fluid retention and is a tonic for the kidneys.
Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora) is healing and antiseptic and boosts the immune system. It is useful for a wide range of skin conditions. Rosewood is also a good oil for joint pain, headaches and stress-related conditions.
A walk in the woods can be both grounding and uplifting. Our tree oils can bring spiritual strength, encourage self-confidence and refresh tired hearts and minds. Trees have deep roots, grounding and strengthening, while they lift their branches to the sky, purifying and uplifting.
